# Every limit and starting value > Look up every cap, time limit, size limit, starting value, and usage limit you can meet in SquadRoom, and what happens when you reach it. ## Tasks | Limit | Value | What happens | | ----------------------------------------------------- | --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | | Request in **What needs to be done?** on **New Task** | 2,400 characters | The box stops taking text. | | Lines in a request | 15 | The "N/15 lines" counter turns red, the form says "Keep the request to 15 lines or fewer.", and no task is created. | | Request plus the docs you reference with # | 12,000 characters in all | The form says "This request references too much material." Remove a doc reference. | | Doc suggestions after you type # | 8 at a time, from your 100 most recently updated docs | Type more of the title to narrow them. | | Task title | The first sentence of your request, up to 80 characters | A longer sentence is cut at a word. With no words to use, the title is "New Task". | | Default priority | Normal | Pick **Low**, **Normal**, **High**, or **Urgent** under **Priority**. | | Who gets a new task | Your lead | It passes the task to the right squad member. | | Tasks your squad runs at once | **Agent Task Concurrency**, 2 by default | Other tasks wait in **Queued** until a run ends. Each running task needs about 800 MB of computer memory. Your workspace runs only as many as it can hold, even with a higher setting. | | "No progress" line on a running task's card | After 1 hour with no sign of progress | The card says "No progress for 1h", then the hours or days. Nothing is stopped. | | Notification about a quiet run | After 4 hours with no sign of progress, once per run | You're told the squad member "has made no progress". Retry the task or leave it running. Nothing is stopped. | | Automatic retries after a run fails | 3 | After the third fails, the task stops, and the card says why. With no known reason, it says the SquadRoom team has it. **Retry** or a comment starts it again. | | Runs that end without finishing the task | 5 restarts | After a 6th unfinished run, restarts stop, and the task's activity says so. It stays in **In Progress** until a comment or **Retry** restarts it. | | Wait after your model provider's usage limit | Until the reset time your provider gives (1 minute to 7 days), or 15 minutes if it gives none | Work resumes by itself. The task's activity and a notification say why and when. The wait isn't a failed run. | | Wait when your model provider is too busy | 5 minutes | Work resumes by itself. The task's activity and a notification say why and when. | | Steps in a task's plan | Up to 10 | The **Plan** section shows "Step N of M". | | Suggestions from one finished task | Up to 3 | They wait under **Tasks > Suggestions** until you start or dismiss them. | | Your comments on a task | No limit | They never fold. | | Comments on an archived task | Not allowed | Refused with "Archived Tasks do not accept comments". | | Time a squad member has to help on another's task | 20 minutes to start, then 10 minutes to finish | **Who worked on this** shows "could not finish" and why: it had no room to start in time, or "Ran out of time before returning." | ## Tickets | Limit | Value | What happens | | ------------------------------------------- | --------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ | | Asks in one ticket | 1 to 3 | Each is an **Approval**, a **Decision**, or a **Question**. The ticket shows "N awaiting you" until you answer them all. | | Age mark on a ticket | After 24 hours | A clock appears by the age. Point at it to see "Waiting for over 24 hours". | | **Request changes** | Needs a comment | **Send changes** stays off until you type what should change. | | Versions of a draft post, reply, or comment | 2 to 4 | Pick one before you approve. Until then, the approve button shows "Pick a version first" when you point at it. | | Editing a doc on an open ticket | Locked | The doc says it's locked while the ticket is open. Answer or archive the ticket to edit the doc. | ## Chat | Limit | Value | What happens | | ---------------------------------------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------ | ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | | One message | 20,000 characters, tags included | Nothing is sent, and your draft stays in the box. You're told to shorten it or attach the text as a file. | | Threads listed in **Chat** | Your 100 most recently active, across your whole squad | Older threads aren't listed. | | Messages shown in one thread | The first 500 | Later messages don't show. Start a new thread for new work. | | Replies running in one thread | 1 at a time | A message you send meanwhile waits and goes out when the reply ends. **Steer** stops the reply and sends it now. | | Automatic retries of a failed reply | 3 | You see **Retry reply** under your message, or "Flagged for internal repair. No action needed from you." | | Your own answer in a choice card | 2,000 characters | The box stops taking text. | | Options in a choice card | Up to 6 | If none fits, type in **Write your own answer**. | | A reply stopped by your model provider's usage limit | Same waits as for tasks | The thread says "Send your message again" and the time. Max 10MB." | | Files in one doc | 1 | Upload each file as its own doc. | | Text read from an uploaded file | All the text in a .txt, .md, or PDF file | Pictures carry no text. | | Docs listed on **Docs** | Your 200 most recently updated | Older docs aren't listed. | | Docs shown by default | **Deliverables** and **Tables** | Turn on **Research**, **Working drafts**, or **Images** under **Filter**. | | Search on **Docs** | From 2 characters, top 12 results | Type more words to narrow them. | | Re-check of a research note | 45 days for a product or own note, 180 days for a concept, method, or other note | The note shows "Re-check due", and the next task that needs it updates it first. | | Versions of a doc | No limit | Every save keeps a version. **Restore as current** brings one back. | | Public link | Never expires | It works until you choose **Make private** or archive the doc. | | Sources on a doc | 60, each with a title of up to 300 characters, a link of up to 2,048, and a note of up to 500 | The fields stop taking text at their limit. | | Details on a doc | 20, each with a label of up to 60 characters and a value of up to 500 | The fields stop taking text at their limit. | | Columns in a table | 40 | A new column is refused with "A Table holds at most 40 columns". | | Rows in a table | 2,000 | A new row is refused with "This Table is at its 2000-row limit." Archive rows or start a new table. | | Size of a table | 900,000 bytes | The save is refused with "This Table is too large to save." Archive old rows or start a new table. | | One table cell | 4,000 characters | The save is refused: the cell "is longer than 4000 characters". The table shows only the first 48 characters of a cell. Another type gets "Docs cannot hold" and the type. | | Size of a Chat file saved as a doc | 10 MB | Fails with "The attachment exceeds the 10 MB Docs limit." | | Docs and tasks you reference with # in one Chat message | 20 | Nothing is sent, and your draft stays in the box. You're told how many tags to remove. | | Files on a change you send to a task from Chat | None | You see "Task revisions cannot carry Chat attachments." Reference a doc instead. | | Files on a task | None: tasks take no uploads | Files reach a task as docs. | ## Scheduled work | Limit | Value | What happens | | --------------------------------------------------------------------- | ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- | --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | | **Repeat every**, when you edit a job's schedule | 1 to 59 minutes, 1 to 23 hours, 1 to 365 days, or weekly, monthly, or yearly | Other values aren't offered. | | **Send results to** | Shows only when Telegram has a bot and your Telegram user ID | Without both, results stay in SquadRoom. | | When a job starts | Within about 1 minute of its time | A start up to a minute late is normal. | | **Run now** while the job runs | 1 run at a time | The button says **Running**, and no second run starts. | | **Run now** while your squad or the job's squad member is paused | No run | A line next to the button says what is paused and where to resume it. | | A **Run now** run that stops reporting | 2.5 minutes | Marked failed with "The run stopped before it could finish." | | Runs listed in a job | The last 12 | Older runs aren't listed. | | Jobs in one day of **Month** view | 3 | The day shows "+N more". **Week** view shows them all. | | Failed runs in a row, for a job your squad set up after your approval | 3 | The job pauses. Each failure posts "Scheduled Job run failed (N/3)" on the task. A task named "Fix Scheduled Job:" and the job's name asks what to do. | | Failed runs in a row, for a playbook | 3 | The playbook pauses and shows **Needs attention**. Its activity says "Three consecutive runs failed." Review the schedule in **Calendar** before you resume it. | ## Plan, credits, and research | Limit | Value | What happens | | ----------------------------------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------ | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ | | Credits each billing cycle on Launch | 1,000 | They reset to 1,000 when the cycle renews. Unused credits don't carry over. | | Credits on the Free plan | 0 | Your squad can't use paid research tools. You see "No credits on the free plan". | | One credit pack | 5,000 credits for $10 | Bought credits never expire and are used after your monthly credits. | | Packs in one purchase | 1 to 20 | The minus and plus buttons stop at 1 and 20. | | Refund on a subscription payment | Within 7 days of the payment | Email support@squadroom.app. After 7 days, it isn't refundable. | | Refund on a credit pack | Within 7 days of purchase, while none of its credits are spent | Email support@squadroom.app. Its credits leave your balance. | | Low-credit warning | Under 15% of the cycle's credits: 150 of 1,000 | You see "Credits running low", and one notification per cycle: "Workspace credits are running low". | | Credits used up | 0 left | Research pauses: paid research lookups are refused, and you see "Credits are used up". Your squad isn't paused. Research works again when you buy a pack or the cycle renews. | | A task stopped for credits | Checked again every 15 minutes | It restarts by itself once credits are back. A credit pack or a renewal restarts it at once. | | **Monthly limit** | Off by default. A whole number from 1 to 10,000,000 credits | Any other value gets "Enter a whole number of credits, 1 or more." | | **Monthly limit** warning | 80% of your limit | You see "Monthly limit almost reached", and one notification per cycle. | | **Monthly limit** reached | 100% of your limit | The whole squad pauses. You see "Monthly limit reached", and a ticket offers two higher limits. The pause lifts when you raise or turn off the limit, or when the next cycle starts. | | Credits one task can spend on research | 900 | No more paid lookups run for the task. The squad member finishes with what it has, without asking you. | | The same web search or page fetched again | Within 6 hours | It comes from a saved copy and costs 0 credits. | | The same social or website data asked for again | Within 24 hours | It comes from a saved copy and costs 0 credits. | | A lookup that fails | Always | It costs 0 credits. | | Live browser session | 30 minutes at most, and it closes after 5 minutes with no activity | The session ends. A new one costs credits again. | | **Credits consumed** chart on **Dashboard** | The last 14 days | Older days aren't shown. | ## Model providers | Limit | Value | What happens | | ----------------------------------------------------------- | -------------------------------------------------------------------------- | --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | | API keys (secret codes from your provider) for one provider | 10 | **Add API Key** stays off until you delete a saved key. | | **Fallback Providers** | 5 | You see "Maximum of 5 fallback providers reached." Only a provider connected with an API key can be a fallback. | | Models in the model list | The latest 6 per provider. For OpenRouter, 2 per model maker and 12 in all | **Show all N models** shows the rest. | | Default **Reasoning Level** | **Automatic** | Pick **Low**, **High**, or **Standard**. | ## Integrations | Limit | Value | What happens | | ----------------------------------- | ----------------------------------------------------------- | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | | Apps in the integrations list | 56 | The header shows how many are connected. | | Accounts for one app | 5 | You're told the app has as many accounts as SquadRoom allows. Disconnect one first. | | **Account label** | Up to 48 characters, different for each account of one app | A label already used for that app is refused. | | Access of a newly connected account | **Read only** | Change it to **Read + Write** or **Full access** on the account's row. | | Name of a server under **Custom** | 2 to 49 lowercase letters, numbers, hyphens, or underscores | Any other name is refused. | | Address of a custom server | HTTPS, with no user name or password in it | Any other address is refused. | | Signing in to a custom server | 10 minutes | Ends with "The authorization attempt expired; start the connection again". | | Number of custom servers | No limit | Add as many as you need. | ## Messaging | Limit | Value | What happens | | ----------------------------- | -------------------------------------- | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | | Telegram bots per workspace | 1 | A new **Bot Token** (the code that connects your bot) replaces the saved one. | | **Your Telegram user ID** | Required to save | Without it, your bot answers no one and scheduled results can't go to Telegram. **Calendar** shows "Telegram Home Channel Not Set". | | People your bot answers | 1: the account whose user ID you saved | Anyone else is told the bot answers only the person who set it up. | | Scheduled results to Telegram | Need a bot and your Telegram user ID | A job set to Telegram without both is refused. | ## Memory | Limit | Value | What happens | | ----------------------------------- | ---------------------- | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | | **The memory** | 8 to 500 characters | The box stops taking text at 500. | | **Why** and **When it applies** | 300 characters each | The box stops taking text. | | **Import notes** | 12 to 8,000 characters | The box stops at 8,000. Import long notes in parts. | | Rules each run follows | Your 30 newest rules | Older rules don't reach the run. | | Saying the same fact about yourself | 3 times | The fact becomes a rule. | ## Skills | Limit | Value | What happens | | -------------------------------- | --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | | **Skill Name** for a new skill | Up to 64 letters, numbers, dots, underscores, and hyphens, starting with a letter or a number | Another name isn't accepted. | | **Skill file** to import | A SKILL.md or a ZIP, up to 2 MB | A larger file fails with "Skill upload exceeds 2 MB". | | Files in a ZIP | 1 to 100 | Fails with "Skill archive must contain between 1 and 100 files". | | Size of a ZIP once unpacked | 5 MB | Fails with "Extracted skill archive exceeds 5 MB". | | **Direct skill URL** | A public HTTPS address, up to 2 MB, that forwards to another address at most 4 times | Other addresses fail. Too many forwards gets "Skill URL redirected too many times". | | A skill from **Marketplace** | Up to 100 files and 5 MB | A larger skill, or one whose name or description is too long, shows **Won't install** and can't be installed. | | Skills listed in **Marketplace** | Up to 500 | Filter by category or search to find others. | ## Squad | Limit | Value | What happens | | ---------------------------------- | ---------------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ | | Squad members at launch | 1 to 8, plus your lead | Your lead asks before it builds more than 6. | | Squad members after setup | No limit | Ask your lead in **Chat** for each one you add. | | Your lead's name in setup | Up to 32 characters | The box stops at 32. **Continue** stays off while it's empty. | | **New first name** when you rename | 2 to 32 characters | The box stops at 32. An empty or unchanged name gets "Enter a different first name." | | Checks on one squad member's work | 3, each 12 to 160 characters | The add button hides at 3. The box stops at 160. An address with spaces gets "Give the website as one address, such as acme.com." | | Workspace setup | Usually under a minute | After 25 seconds the line says "Still starting." | | Most actions on the page that reach your workspace | 20 seconds | Fails with "Request timed out after 20s. Please try again." | | A reset with no progress | 3 minutes | The screen says "Reset needs another try" and shows **Resume reset**. | | What a reset keeps | **Connected apps** and **AI providers and models** on, **Memory** off | Tick or untick them in the **Reset workspace** window. What you don't keep is deleted. | | **Agent Task Concurrency** | 1, 2, 4, 5, 6, 8, or 10 tasks, 2 by default | Other values aren't offered. | | Backups | No limit, kept until you delete them | A pinned backup shows **Unpin to delete**. | | **Include secrets and environment variables** on a new backup | On | Turn it off for a backup without them.
