What SquadRoom costs and what uses credits
Understand the charges for SquadRoom, your AI provider, and credit packs, and what does and doesn't use credits. See what happens when credits run low or run out, and how to limit them or pause new work.
The separate charges
| Charge | Price | Who bills you | What it pays for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Launch plan | $49 a month during early access. The list price is $99 a month. | SquadRoom | Your workspace, your squad, and 1,000 research credits each billing cycle |
| Your AI provider | Your provider's price | Your AI provider | Your squad's model usage |
| Credit packs (optional) | $10 per 5,000 credits | SquadRoom | Research credits on top of your monthly allowance |
The Launch plan
- There is one plan, Launch, with every feature.
- You pay before setup. Checkout applies the early-access price, and it stays for as long as you stay subscribed.
- No fees per seat or per task.
- The plan renews monthly. A billing cycle runs one month from the day you subscribed.
- The plan card in Settings > Billing shows the list price, $99 / month. Your invoices in Billing History show what you paid.
- You can cancel at any time, and a subscription payment is refundable within 7 days. See Update your payment details or cancel and Get a refund.
Your AI provider
- Your squad runs on an AI account you connect, such as a ChatGPT sign-in, a Claude subscription, or an API key. An API key is a secret code from your AI provider that lets SquadRoom use your account. See Connect the AI account your squad runs on.
- Your provider bills you directly. SquadRoom adds nothing to the provider's price and can't refund model usage.
What credits pay for
Credits pay only for the built-in research tools: web search, page reads, a live browser, and lookups on LinkedIn, X, Reddit, YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok.
Each lookup costs a set number of credits per result, per page, or per browser session. You pay for the results that come back, not for the most a lookup could return.
| Source | Lookup | Credits |
|---|---|---|
| Web | Search | 1 per result |
| Web | Fetch | 5 per result |
| Web | Browser | 10 per session |
| Web | Competitor discovery | 10 per result |
| Web | Website traffic | 1 per result |
| Profiles / Companies / Company employees | 10 per result | |
| Posts / Jobs / Comments / Reactions / Ads | 5 per result | |
| Profiles search | 200 per page | |
| Twitter / X | Profiles / Tweets / Replies / Followers / Retweeters | 1 per result |
| Posts / Comments | 1 per result | |
| YouTube | Channels / Videos and shorts / Comments | 1 per result |
| Profiles / Posts / Reels / Comments / Followers | 5 per result | |
| Page profile / Events | 20 per result | |
| Posts / Groups / Comments / Reviews | 5 per result | |
| Followers / Ads library / Reels / Marketplace | 10 per result | |
| TikTok | Profiles / Posts / Comments | 5 per result |
| TikTok | Followers / Following | 2 per result |
| TikTok | Shop products | 30 per result |
The same table is in the app: select View pricing on the Credits card in Settings > Usage.
These never use credits:
- Model usage. Your AI provider bills it.
- A lookup that fails.
- A lookup your workspace already ran. The same web search or page fetch within 6 hours comes from a saved copy at 0 credits. So does the same other lookup within 24 hours. A browser session never comes from a saved copy.
- Apps you connect in Settings > Integrations.
- Chat, Tasks, Tickets, Docs, the Calendar, Memory, Skills, and Telegram messages.
The monthly allowance
- The Launch plan includes 1,000 credits each billing cycle: your subscription month, not the calendar month.
- The new allowance arrives when your subscription renews. Settings > Usage shows the date as "Resets" under Available credits.
- Included credits you don't use expire at the end of the cycle. Credit activity shows "Expired remaining subscription credits", then Billing cycle refill for the new allowance.
- Included credits are spent first, purchased credits last.
- Without an active subscription there is no allowance. The Credits card says "Free plan includes no credits".
Purchased credits
- A pack is 5,000 credits for $10. Buy 1 to 20 packs at a time, up to 100,000 credits for $200. See Buy credits.
- Purchased credits never expire, and they stay if you cancel.
- They reach your balance when the payment succeeds.
- A pack you haven't spent from is refundable within 7 days of purchase. See Get a refund.
What one task can spend
One task spends at most 900 credits on research. After that, no more paid lookups run for it. The squad member finishes with what it found and notes the gap in its result. The next task starts again from 0. You can't change this cap.
When credits run low or run out
A card in the sidebar tells you first:
| Card title | When it shows | Button |
|---|---|---|
| "Credits running low" | Fewer than 150 credits are left (15% of the allowance). The card says about how many, and that research pauses at zero. | Top up credits, or Later to hide it in this browser until the next cycle |
| "Credits are used up" | 0 credits are left, and research is paused. The card gives the reset date. | Top up credits |
| "No credits on the free plan" | 0 credits are left, and you have no active subscription | Upgrade to Launch |
| "Monthly limit almost reached" | You used 80% of your monthly limit | Review limit, or Later |
| "Monthly limit reached" | You used all of your monthly limit. The squad is paused until you raise the limit or the date shown. | Raise limit |
Top up credits and Upgrade to Launch open Settings > Billing. Review limit and Raise limit open Settings > Usage. Only the two warnings can be hidden. The other cards stay until your balance or limit changes.
Each of these moments also sends one notification per cycle, under Notifications in the top bar. You see "Workspace credits are running low", "Workspace credits are exhausted", or "Monthly credit limit almost reached".
At 0 credits, only research pauses: every paid research lookup is refused until you buy a pack or the allowance resets. Your squad isn't paused, and work that needs no research goes on.
A task that runs out of credits
When a task's research is refused because credits ran out, the task stops and waits in Queued. It restarts by itself. You don't need to retry it or comment.
- Its card says "Waiting for credits · restarts by itself after a top-up".
- Its Activity says the workspace ran out of credits, and that the task restarts after a top-up or when your monthly credits renew.
- A credit pack or the monthly renewal restarts it at once. SquadRoom also checks for credits every 15 minutes.
- When it restarts, Activity says "Credits are back, so this Task starts again."
Credits run out in Chat
When a squad member runs out of credits while it replies in Chat, it says so and links to buying a credit pack. The reply doesn't pick up by itself. After you top up, ask again.
Set a monthly limit
The monthly limit is the most credits your squad may use in one billing cycle, included and purchased together. It is off until you set it.
Open the limit
Open Settings > Usage and find Monthly limit.
Type the limit
Type a whole number of 1 or more in Limit in credits, such as 800. Anything else shows "Enter a whole number of credits, 1 or more."
Save it
Select Save limit. The line above reads "[n] of [limit] credits used this month."
To remove the limit, select Turn off.
What happens at the limit
- At 80%, you get the "Monthly limit almost reached" card and a notification.
- At 100%, the whole squad pauses. A lookup that would go past the limit is refused. Task cards show "Paused · monthly credit limit reached", and Monthly limit reads "Limit reached".
- A ticket opens: "Monthly credit limit of [limit] reached". It offers two higher limits, Stay paused, or a limit you type. For a limit of 800, the choices are "Raise to 1,200 credits" and "Raise to 1,600 credits".
- Raising the limit or turning it off resumes the squad. Resume squad on Tasks doesn't. It tells you to raise the limit in Settings > Usage.
- When the next billing cycle starts, the count goes back to 0, and the squad resumes on its own.
Stop new work at once
Select Pause squad on Tasks. No task, wake-up, or scheduled run starts until you select Resume squad. A run already going keeps going. See Pause the whole squad.
Where to see your usage
| Place | What it shows |
|---|---|
| The credit count in the top bar | Your credits available. Point at it for the reset date. Click it to open Settings > Usage. |
| Account menu > Usage | What is left on each AI account and in SquadRoom credits, with the reset date. Buy credits shows when credits are low. See full usage opens Settings > Usage. |
| Settings > Usage | Model accounts: what is left on each AI account. An API key shows no balance, because the provider doesn't share one. Also the Credits card (Available credits and a bar of the allowance used), Monthly limit, and Credit activity. |
| Settings > Billing | Billing History: every payment and refund, with its invoice |
| Dashboard | Credits consumed: credits used per day for the last 14 days |
Credit activity lists every change to your balance, newest first, 10 to a page. A usage line names the tool, such as "Web · Search", the squad member who used it, the credits, and the time.
What SquadRoom doesn't do
- It doesn't bill you for model usage. Your AI provider does.
- It doesn't carry included credits into the next cycle.
- It doesn't buy credits for you. There is no automatic top-up.
- It doesn't let you set a credit budget for one task. The 900-credit cap is fixed.
- Your squad can't buy credits or change the monthly limit.
